WTW // HR Insights
THE CHALLENGE

WTW is a global leader in HR data, offering organisations access to tools that support compensation benchmarking and structural insights. But their legacy systems had become overly complex, filled with internal jargon and fractured across teams, making it hard for clients to use them effectively. Most resorted to exporting data and working around the system.

THE INTERVENTION

Over nearly a year of research, design, and stakeholder alignment, we built a platform that let clients not only extract data but generate meaningful insights, quickly and intuitively. While the output was a digital product, the real win was navigating a complex web of over 60 stakeholders, all with strong, often conflicting visions.

Process highlights

Primary Research

  • Stakeholder Mapping: Defined levels of involvement, identifying a core co-design group and a wider feedback loop.

  • Discovery & Alignment: I ran workshops to surface hopes, fears, and past platform design attempts across siloed teams.

  • 30+ Stakeholder Interviews: Captured visions, concerns, and buy-in for a unified solution.

  • Global Client Interviews: Identified real user needs across sectors and organisational scales.

  • Platform & Language Audit: Mapped internal terminology to client-facing language to reduce friction.

  • Feature Validation: Compared stakeholder requests to user needs, cutting through assumptions to prioritise what mattered.

Co-creation

Workshops: Designed and led sessions around 5 key user scenarios to uncover pain points.

  • Design Sprints: Collaborated with a product designer, iterating weekly on wireframes and high-fidelity mocks.

  • User Testing: Despite constraints, we tested with users once to validate direction.

  • Company-Wide Feedback: Delivered biweekly presentations (with 50+ stakeholders per call) and set up asynchronous feedback channels.

Outcomes

We delivered a platform that lets users:

  • Compare compensation thresholds and job descriptions

  • Define peer organisations for benchmarking

  • Import/export datasets and customise visualisations

  • Manage layered data access internally

Most importantly, we built a solution shaped collaboratively by the company itself—ensuring lasting relevance and adoption.
